What are THREAD talks?
THREAD talks is a virtual lecture series featuring a new guest speaker each month.
Lectures are live at 8pm Eastern time on the first Wednesday of each month, and cover all sorts of topics of interest to quilters and makers.
Each lecture is $35, or you can join Club Gotham to get a year's worth of THREAD talks for just $125!

This lecture will take place virtually over Zoom. Once you register, you will receive an email with instructions for logging in. All Talks are in Eastern (NYC) time. Talk will not be recorded.

Anatomy of Improv
Have you ever wondered how to create an Improv Quilt without a pattern? Where do you start? How do you know when it’s finished? Author and award winning artist Cindy Grisdela will share her tips and tricks in this entertaining lecture about the process for working improvisationally from start to finish.
Meet Cindy Grisdela
Cindy Grisdela is an artist who approaches fabric much like a painter approaches canvas. Using a fearless application of color and texture, she creates dynamic contemporary compositions by cutting shapes freehand—without the use of patterns or templates. While she holds a BA in Fine Arts from the College of William and Mary and an MBA from George Washington University, Cindy is a self-taught fiber artist who draws inspiration from the tactile nature of stitch.
A dedicated educator and sought-after speaker, Cindy travels extensively to share her expertise in improv quilting and design. She is the author of three influential books:
