07/12-07/14 Half Square Triangle Virtual Retreat
Join us for a weekend of piecing fun, all from the comfort of your own home. Stay in, wear your PJ's, and sew all weekend with fellow fabric nerds!
We'll be taking a deep dive into one of our favorite quilt blocks of all time, the Half Square Triangle (HST). Using Jenni Baker's book Patchwork Essentials: The Half Square Triangle, we'll spend the weekend exploring assembly methods and design possibilities with HSTs.
Together, we'll explore the book and learn handy techniques.
For this retreat, we're doing the demos a bit differently: The demos will be recorded before the retreat starts, and available to watch ahead of time if you want to (we know some attendees like to get organized before the weekend starts). We will play the demos live in the retreat on Firday, Saturday, and Sunday, so that you can ask questions or give feedback, and the videos will be available to rewatch after the retreat as well.
The 3 demo topics are:
- Color & Scale for for HSTs
- 3 techniques for piecing HSTs and how to make your own "scrap fabric"
- Using the book's Block Chart and PreQuilt to plan quilts
Included in your retreat package:
- a copy of the Patchwork Essentials book (or the fabric bundle)
- a couple of extra surprise goodies!
We will be hosting this Virtual Retreat on Zoom, with scheduled times to get together for demonstrations, show off our progress, and have giveaways. It's going to be a ton of fun!

10am Saturday: Morning greeting

Attendees are welcome to attend any or all of the scheduled Zoom times and come and go at your own pace.
FAQ's:
Q: How is a "retreat" different from a class?
A: A retreat is more informal than a class. Even though we will be demonstrating techniques, attendees will choose their own project and stitch at their own pace. Everyone chats while stitching, and those who want to collaborate or help each other can do so.
Q: I already own the book, can I still sign up?
A: Yes! Please choose the "Mystery Bundle" option instead of the "book" option
Q: I want both the book and the bundle, can I do that?
A: Yes! Choose the "book" option and then click the checkbox next to the bundle in the "add on items" list to get both.
Q: Do I need to do any prep work before the retreat starts?
A: We recommend reading through the book before the weekend starts, so you can think through what you might like to work on. If you want to do even more prework, you can watch the demo videos as soon as you get the retreat link (but this is not required!)
Q: Do I need to be online the entire time?
A: Absolutely not, we expect people to pop in and out as they wish throughout the weekend.
Q: When will the retreat package arrive?
A: Packages will arrive at your home at least 1 week before the retreat starts.
