The Orlando shooting last weekend has shocked and upset everyone we know here in NYC. We’re heartbroken and sad and frustrated. And we all feel helpless.
When we heard about the Orlando Modern Quilt guild’s charity project to make 102 quilts for the victims and their families, we wanted to get involved immediately.
Want to get involved?
Gotham Quilts collection site
Starting today, we’ll be a collection site for blocks (or finished quilts!) for Quilts for Pulse. You can drop off your block or quilt anytime between now and August 7th at:
40 W 37th Street, Suite 603
New York, NY 10018
Andrea and I will mail everything we collect and make off to Orlando on August 8th.
Quilts for Pulse Sewing Day at Gotham Quilts
We’re hosting a free charity sewing day on Sunday, July 24th, 12pm-5pm, so that people can come into the studio and work on their blocks and quilts together. If you want to join us for the charity sewing day, you can register here.
Looking for different heart block patterns to use?
Our free Cutie Quilt pattern has a modern, minimal heart block that would be great for this project.
Check out the #quiltsforpulse hashtag on Instagram for more options and inspiration.
We hope you’ll join us! Together we can let Orlando know that NYC stands with them!
