09/19-09/21 - English Paper Piecing Virtual Retreat
Join us for a weekend of relaxing sewing fun, all from the comfort of your own home. Stay in, wear your PJ's, and sew all weekend with fellow fabric nerds!
This will be the first retreat under the new ownership, and Alison, Andrea, and Ivete will all be hanging out with everyone throughout the whole weekend. Come learn English Paper Piecing with us and also get to know Alison, the new owner of Gotham Quilts.
For this retreat we've chosen one of Ivete's favorite quilting techniques: English Paper Piecing (EPP for short). We'll spend the weekend learning the basics of EPP and some more advanced techniques like fussy cutting.
The retreat includes demonstration videos which are available to watch ahead of time if you want to (we know some attendees like to get organized before the weekend starts). You'll be able to ask questions and get additional demonstrations during the retreat, too.
Included in your retreat package:
- The Flossie Teacakes Guide to English Paper Piecing Book
- Sample pack of EPP papers in various shapes and sizes
- One set of paper pieces for each of the pictured "rosettes" from the book
- 1" Hexagon Acrylic Template
- Some extra goodies... it's a surprise!
We will be hosting this Virtual Retreat on Zoom, with scheduled times to get together, have giveaways, and show off our progress. It's going to be a ton of fun!

4-6pm Friday: Welcome greeting and introductions
8pm Friday: Happy Hour
7-10pm Friday: Open sewing
10am Saturday: Morning greeting
10am-10pm Saturday: Open sewing time with drop in Zoom
8pm Saturday: Happy Hour
10am Sunday: Morning greeting
10am-3pm Sunday: Open sewing time with drop in Zoom
3pm Sunday: Show & Tell send-off
Attendees are welcome to attend any or all of the scheduled Zoom times and come and go at your own pace.
FAQ's
Q: When will the retreat package arrive?
A: Packages will arrive at your home at least 1 week before the retreat starts.
Q: How is a "retreat" different from a class?
A: A retreat is more informal than a class. Even though the retreat has a theme and instructional videos, attendees will choose their own project and stitch at their own pace. Everyone chats while stitching, and those who want to collaborate or help each other can do so.
Q: I already own the book, can I still sign up?
A: Yes! Please choose the "Mystery Bundle" option instead of the "book" option
Q: I want both the book and the bundle, can I do that?
A: Yes! Choose the "book" option and then click the checkbox next to the bundle in the "add on items" list to get both.
Q: Do I need to do any prep work before the retreat starts?
A: We recommend reading through the book before the weekend starts, so you can think through what you might like to work on. If you want to do even more prework, you can watch the demo videos as soon as you get the retreat link (but this is not required!)
Q: Do I need to be online the entire time?
A: Absolutely not, we expect people to pop in and out as they wish throughout the weekend.
