Who says English Paper Piecing (EPP) has to be just hexies and diamonds? Customize your own English Paper Piece (EPP) project! This technique and project is the perfect portable project. Take it with you while traveling. Have only 10 to 15 minutes at a time? This is an easy project that is great for using up fabrics in your stash and is easy to pick up and put down. Sheri will walk you through all the steps while demonstrating tips and tricks for staying organized, working efficiently, achieving precise alignments and sewing with different stitches to piece both straight lines and curves. This workshop is geared towards the beginner or those who are challenged by English Paper Piecing. Students will practice their EPP skills while making letters of their choice from Sheri’s pattern, Typecast. Sudents will have one letter well underway by the end of class. Students can make additional letters to customize their own quilt. The possibilities are endless!
Sewing machines are not required for this class. It is a fun, relaxing slow-stitching virtual workshop.
Skill Level. This class is suitable for beginner level quilters. Basic hand sewing experience necessary.
Teacher: Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill of Whole Circle Studio
This class meets 1-5pm Eastern time (NYC local time) on Sunday February 28th via Zoom. An invitation will be emailed to you the day before class.
The Typecast Alphabet Pattern and complete set of paper pieces will by mailed to you approx. 1 week before class. These supplies are included in your class fee. Sign-ups will close February 10th
Required supplies (All supplies available for purchase at Gotham Quilts) :
- Typecast EPP Pattern Guide and paper pieces (included in class fee)
- Fat Eighth (ore more) fabric for each LETTER
- Fat Eighth (ore more) fabric for each BACKGROUND
- Small rotary cutter, mat and ruler
- Water Soluable Glue Pen
- Fabric Scissors
- Thin and sharp Milliner, Straw or Sharps sewing needles (Sheri likes size 10)
- Thin thread to match fabric (80wt or 50wt)
- Wonder clips or mini binder clips
- Thread conditioner
- Thimble and/or adhesive thimble pads
