Embroidery 101
(formerly known as Creative Hand Stitching Journey)
Join Jen for a year-long virtual class to learn the basics of hand embroidery. Through a wealth of on-demand content, we will work our way through Sue Spargo's Creative Stitching Book, starting from the most basic of embroidery stitches, the running stitch, all the way up through fancy stitches like bullion knots and beaded or whipped stitches!
Our virtual Embroidery 101 class includes:
- A copy of the Creative Stitching Book and the Creative Stitching Needle Pack.
- Each month, we'll work on a set of stitches from the book, organized in a skill-building order. Pre-recorded video demonstrations of all stitches are included for you to watch (and rewatch!) on your own schedule.
- Students are encouraged to attend Jen’s monthly embroidery social hour, held on the second Wednesday of the month, at 7pm eastern time. This is a time for show and tell, sharing inspiration, and to get support on any embroidery issues you may be struggling with. Meetings are recorded and available to re-watch on demand.
- Instructions to make Jen's optional embroidery stitching journal.
- Free registration to Virtual Social Sewing sessions during the class year.
- Students can interact with each other, ask questions, and post photos at any time in the course's "feed" section.
After you sign up, we will mail your supplies and invite you to the online group.
You'll have access to the course materials forever.
Schedule: We run two year-long sessions of Embroidery 101, a Winter session starting in January and a Summer session starting in July.
Winter Session: Signups for the Winter session open in October and close in December, and class runs from January-December.
Summer Session: Signups for the Summer session open in April and close in June, and class runs from July-June.
Signup options: The book and needle pack are required materials for this class. Since we understand that some students may already own them, we offer 5 different options for signing up for this course, each with a different set of supplies.
