You may already know that Jen has been teaching a virtual Kawandi-style quilting class with us for a while now.
Each time we offer a live virtual Kawandi class, we get the same question:
I can't make it at that time, do you offer a pre-recorded version instead? Well, Jen heard you, and she's delivering....
Introducing: Jen's on-demand Kawandi-style Quilting Virtual Class!
What's an "on-demand" virtual class? The term refers to virtual classes that are pre-recorded instead of being broadcast live, which means you can watch them at anytime (regardless of your timezone!) and the recordings are accessible to re-watch as many times as you'd like.
In this on-demand class, Jen has recorded over an hour of instructional videos, broken down into small portions for easier reference.
Specific instructions for four different projects are included (coaster, place mat, and baby quilt), along with the option for a bonus project bag pattern.
You can also interact with other students (and Jen!) via the class discussion "feed," post photos of your projects, and ask questions!
What is a Kawandi Quilt?Kawandi Quilts are a traditional craft practiced by African Diaspora peoples in Western India. Traditional Kawandi are made from recycled saris. They are constructed from the outside in, which makes them a unique change of pace from western quilting traditions. If you love the texture of hand quilting, you will love making Kawandi. It is also a fantastic way to use up your scraps.
In this on-demand class, Jen will show you how to get started on your own mini Kawandi style quilt. Jen will demonstrate the techniques she is familiar with, from beginning with the finished edges, adding decorative pops of color, filling the belly of the Kawandi, and completing your piece with decorative phula.
