What are THREAD talks?
THREAD talks is a virtual lecture series featuring a new guest speaker each month.
Lectures are live at 8pm Eastern time on the first Wednesday of each month, and cover all sorts of topics of interest to quilters and makers.
Each lecture is $35, or you can join Club Gotham to get a year's worth of THREAD talks for just $125!

This is a great lecture to discover more about modern quilting, and how art and quilting are inextricably intertwined. David will reveal how five key qualities combine in different ways to create spectacular results: scale, color, subject matter, technique and innovation. See masterpieces made between 1990 – 2015 and experience the genius behind these exquisite quilts. Plus, David will share a flash review of a select group of winning entries from past QuiltCon conventions.

This lecture was co-written and produced by David Owen Hastings and his friend, Teresa Duryea Wong – lecturer, historian, and author of many fine books on quilts and their history.
Meet David
David Owen Hastings is a modern quilter, graphic designer, and textile artist living in the Pacific Northwest. He creates richly layered contemporary artwork and modern minimal quilt designs. Sharing knowledge, encouraging creativity, and teaching new skills are personal passions of his. David gives lectures and workshops on branding, art, textile, and modern quilting techniques. He enjoys helping people bridge the
gap between modern art and modern quilting!
